After discovering that it's metastasized to his lungs, we were told this type of cancer often shows up in the brain next.
As you can imagine, we were very relieved to get back his MRI results today (March 30th), Michael's scan was clear and cancer has not spread to the brain, praise God.
What's next?
We want to follow wherever the Lord leads us, knowing and trusting that He is the ultimate Healer and can use many different means to bring about total healing. We know that no decision should be made out of fear, but instead, the leading of the Holy Spirit.
He will likely have more bloodwork done this week as we continue to monitor his HCG levels, which remain one of the most important indicators to watch. As we shared before, we are actively researching, meeting with doctors, and prayerfully considering several different treatment options.
In addition to recommendations from his primary care doctor (who has been an incredible support) and his post-surgery follow-up appointment in a little over a week, we’re also looking for ways to support his body and promote healing in every way we can.
One of those steps includes focusing on creating a healthier internal environment. As part of that, he’s working to reduce acidity and support his body through dietary changes. So if you notice Michael rubbing his eyes a bit more than usual - it’s true - he actually gave up coffee. If anyone has met Michael, you probably know his list of greatest loves - Jesus, his family, coffee, hot sauce, and The Office (in that order). Thankfully, he only has to give up one of the five. 😉
Joking aside, we are taking all of this very seriously. We continue to pray for wisdom and direction, not wanting to rush into a decision that carries permanent, life-altering consequences. At the same time, we recognize the importance of moving forward in a timely way to ensure he receives the best care possible.
One of Mike's life verses is:
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." James 1:5
But I also just love the verses surrounding verse five...
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
The brother in humble circumstances should exult in his high position. But the one who is rich should exult in his low position, because he will pass away like a flower of the field. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him."
Thank you, Lord, for Your abundant grace, mercy and wisdom. We know "every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of heavenly lights" and we thank and praise You for this gift."

I am so very sad to hear this news. You two are such an inspiration to us in our work at Hope Resource Center. We truly love you. Praying for the healing touch of Jesus as you walk this path to wellness. Much love, Cheryl
We’ll be praying for him in the city of The Office.
Noooo…not the coffee!!! I know how much he loves it! I’ll be praying for it to become undesirable so that he won’t miss it and that he will he will gain extra energy from the Lord! ♥️
